MILF NO MORE! Materfamilias Is The New Mother In Town!
MATERFAMILIAS Is The New Head Of The Household
There’s a new Mother in town and the always pleasing MILF is no more.
It’s 2019 and MILF is now Materfamilias. However, only the name has changed, it’s the same doable mother it’s always been.

This Imperial Stout is aged in Bourbon, Brandy, Rum and Rye Barrels and she’s every bit as warming as she’s always been.
Rich dark cocoa paves the way for the decadent dried dark fruit, I get candied fruit notes as well as if a rum-soaked rum cake was merged with a brandy infused fruit cake. The bourbon barrel imparts vanilla and nutty toffee notes, but the rye is most apparent in the finish as it adds just enough spice to combine with the oak to dry and clean up this delightfully sweet masterpiece of a beer.
The MILF has grown up and become “Materfamilias”, and if I was relegated to one barrel aged brew for the rest of my life, without question this would be the Mother of choice!
The 2018 MILF is finally out! They hit a bit of a snag with this years batch, but it is here and she sure is tasty!
MILF! My favorite Politically Incorrect Adult Beverage!
Ah yes, the 2018 MILF, Mother’s MILF, or Mother’s Imperial Liquid Fantasy.
Oh, you thought it meant something else, get your mind out of the gutter.
This year’s model had some trials and tribulations, but she made it and was worth the wait.
To recap, this is an 11% 50 IBU, multiple spirit barrel aged Imperial Stout with raisins and cocoa nibs.
The nose alone is intoxicating, like if the best barrel aged Imperial Stout and a Belgian Quad had a baby.
Rich chocolate and dark fruit, raisins, candied sour cherry, date, accented by vanilla and nutty(hazelnut) toffee, surrounded by oaky goodness and a hint of spice.
I wouldn’t shit you!
Flavors of dark chocolate, candied fruit, raisin and date. Creamy vanilla runs all the way through, nutty toffee finishing with deep oak, a hint of cinnamon and allspice.
Bottom Line: WOW!
She’s so creamy that she drinks like an Imperial Milk Stout.

The 2017 Mother’s MILF is out, bigger, better and tasty as ever!
THE MILF! No, no, no, I’m not talking about sexual fantasy, well maybe! No really, Mother’s MILF, a decadent 11% 50 IBU Imperial Stout aged in various spirit barrels that I’ve been told may vary from year to year.
That’s me with one of the variances in 1955, okay, well it was this year, I just like the old timey photo, I’m getting nostalgic in my old age.
The 2017 is quite spectacular, rich malted dark chocolate on the nose, roasted barley, a hint of anise, I’m also getting raisin & dark plum aromas ending with a crescendo of oak.
A rich decadent mouthfeel, flavors of dark chocolate, molasses, sweet raisin, overripe plum, you may even get other dark fruit like fig or date surrounded by beautiful oak. Heck, truthfully I could talk about flavors all day and to be honest, every time I have one I taste something different. That, my dear friends is why this is a world class beer and one of the best barrel aged imperial stouts available.
Pictured above is last years, the 2016, I still have a couple bottles left and although this page isn’t meant to be a beer review, I’ll give a few notes on the ’16.
Right away I notice port wine like notes on the nose, dark plum and sour cherry chime in as well and of course dark chocolate notes are readily apparent.
Not as sweet a year later and oak is more pervasive. Roasted barley in a big way and deep dark chocolate as well. Although I get those large fruit notes on the nose, they’re background players to the cocoa nibs and roasted barley.
So, as I wrap up this article/review, I’m drinking a 2017 Mother’s MILF and rather than to go into tasting notes again, I’ll just tell you how it makes you feel because sometimes I think craft beer concentrates too much on stats and pretentious descriptors.
Sometimes you know a beer is going to be good by the way it pours and she pours a beautiful jet black with a creamy mocha head that’s incredibly visually appealing.
The aromas alone are intoxicating, I won’t go into specifics, but WOW! It’s so complex on the nose that it just brings all of your senses alive.
As complex as the nose is, the flavors are even more complex. Again, specific flavors aside, sometimes you drink a beer that you know is special, that just makes you feel good all over, THIS ONE IS THAT BEER and it really is that good!
The Rye Barrel MILF was recently released, I had a glass at the brewery, it was almost orgasmic!
